At Scallywags Child Care Centre we believe the early childhood years are not solely about preparation for the future but also about relevant learning for the present. We aim to provide a welcoming environment that supports learning in flexible spaces, with relaxed and happy educators. Children and families are respected and encouraged to collaborate with educators to ensure learning experiences are meaningful.
To support children to move from the security of their family into the wider community, we aim for them to develop feelings of belonging, attachment and trust towards the educators who care for them within the Centre environment. We believe in honouring the values, practices and beliefs of individual families. We also honour the rights of children to have their differing abilities and strengths acknowledged and valued.
Childhood is a time to be, to seek and make meaning of the world. Our programs reflect the process of rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years as young as children learn and grow. Children are recognised as active participants and decision makers in their learning. We believe children progress well when families and educators work in partnership to support learning. Relationships between educators, families and children are promoted through a consistent staffing pattern.
We have a commitment to continuous improvement in our daily practices and approaches, using the National Quality Standard as our guide.
